10. How will HOA’s affect the design of the home?

This answer will vary from one location to another. HOA’s have one primary goal: to protect the home owners investment and keep home resale value stable. The introduction of a sustainable zero energy home into a community among homes with inferior performance will raise the value of adjacent property. From an aesthetic standpoint, UDC’s sustainable zero energy designs can look and feel as alike to or different from any other house on the market today. Typically, for a conventional urban setting, they will portray the look and feel of traditionally constructed homes. Unique exterior features may be visible, however, these are mild in nature.
