Earthen Construction is the oldest construction method in the world. Dating back some 7,000 years, its first recorded use was by the ancient Sumerians, located in present day Iraq, in 4,000 B.C.E.

Earthen construction has been used on every continent by more than 100 civilizations over the history of man, and today more than 50% of the homes and buildings of the world are constructed from earth. Earth construction comes in several forms, such as Rammed Earth; used in the Great Wall of China- the largest earthen building in the world, or Adobe; used by the Native peoples of the Americas and Compressed Earth Block (CEB), the newest evolution of this age old building technique, used today to increase building performance, sustainability and lower construction cost.
